Delivery Bikers

Plastic bags used as protection against cold and rain, bright cubic backpacks, handlebars wrapped in tape. These details form a visual language that identifies delivery bikers across New York City.

When the city was hit by the effects of Covid-19, delivery bikers continued working without pause, becoming part of the front line while keeping everyday life running.

Since 2020, I have been portraying them while they work, building an ongoing series. Each rider is photographed during brief pauses between deliveries. I record their name and a contact so I can send them the image; with some, a relationship continues over time.

The project builds a collective portrait of riders moving across the city.
